Who we are

ED Treatment Spotis an independent publisher of educational health information. We are not a healthcare provider, a pharmacy, or an insurer. Because we do not provide healthcare or process claims, we are not a “covered entity” under HIPAA — which is precisely why we ask you not to send us medical details.

What we collect

Information you give us

The only place on this site where you can submit information is the contact form. If you use it, we receive your name, your email address, the topic you selected, and whatever you write in the message.

We ask you not to include medical details about yourself. If you do anyway, we treat that message as sensitive, restrict who can see it, and delete it once your enquiry is resolved.

Information collected automatically

Like any website, ours is served by a hosting provider that keeps standard request logs. These typically include your IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser and operating system, and the page you arrived from. They are used to keep the site running and secure — diagnosing errors, and identifying abusive traffic.

What we do not collect

• We do not run analytics or advertising trackers of our own on this site.
• We do not set any cookies of our own.
• We do not ask for, or want, health records.
• We do not have accounts, so there are no passwords.
• We do not take payments, so we never see card details.

How we use it

• To reply to messages you send us.
• To verify and add clinics you suggest for the directory.
• To investigate and fix errors you report.
• To keep the site running, secure and free of abuse.
• To comply with the law where we are required to.

We do not use your information to build a profile of you, and we do not use it for automated decision-making.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We share it only in these situations:

• Service providers. Our hosting provider processes requests to serve you pages. Any provider we use is bound to handle information only as we instruct.
• Legal obligations.If we are required to by a valid legal process, or to protect someone's safety.
• A business transfer. If the site were sold or merged, information could pass to the new owner. We would say so here first.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site go to online clinics that pay us a commission when a reader signs up. This is disclosed on the pages where it applies and explained in full in our advertising disclosure.

When you click one of those links you leave this site. What happens next — including any tracking that partner does — is governed by their privacy policy, not ours. We do not pass your name, email, or anything else you have told us to any partner.

Cookies

We do not set advertising or analytics cookies.

The text-size control in the header stores your choice in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. That value never leaves your device and is never sent to us. You can clear it through your browser settings.

How long we keep things

• Contact form messages: kept while we deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted. Messages containing health details are deleted as soon as the enquiry is resolved.
• Server logs: retained for a short period by our hosting provider for security and diagnostics, then rotated out automatically.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you
• give you a copy of it
• correct anything inaccurate
• delete it
• stop selling or sharing it — which is straightforward for us, because we do not
• not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have these rights by statute. We extend them to everyone regardless of where you live, because maintaining two standards is not worth anyone's time.

To make a request, email privacy@edtreatmentspot.com. We will respond within 45 days. We may need to ask a question or two to confirm it is really you, particularly for a deletion request.

Sensitive information

Health information is treated as sensitive personal information under most US state privacy laws. Our approach is to avoid holding it at all: we do not ask for it, the contact form tells you not to send it, and anything that arrives anyway is restricted and deleted promptly. We never use it for any purpose other than answering your message.

Children

This site is intended for adults. It is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and access to contact form submissions is limited to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — which is another reason not to send us anything you would not want disclosed.

Links to other sites

We link to clinics, practices and reference sources. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Read their policies before giving them anything, particularly a telehealth service that will be asking for your medical history.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. For a change that materially affects how we handle your information, we will make that clear rather than relying on you to notice a new date.
