What to look for
How to pick a practice
- They assess your cardiovascular risk, not just hand over a prescription
- They review your full medication list for drugs that cause ED
- They offer more than pills — injections, devices, or a referral route
- For implants: the surgeon places them regularly, not occasionally
- For testosterone: they require two morning blood draws before prescribing
- They take your insurance, or the cash price is stated up front

Clinics to be careful with
A specific business model has grown up around men's sexual health: cash-only, no insurance, large packages sold up front, often marketed with a free seminar and a discount that expires the same day.
Shockwave therapy is the usual product. It is still classed as investigational and no device is FDA-approved for ED, so paying several thousand dollars for a course is a poor first move.
